What is a Fleet Hospital?
The Navy exists to defend the civilian population, and Navy Medicine exists to support Sailors and Marines should they be called into action. Because of this personnel at Naval Hospital Bremerton have two main missions: providing healthcare in a peacetime setting, and responding to our wartime readiness responsibility to provide care anywhere in the world in time of crisis.
Who is involved in Fleet Hospital?
The Naval Hospital is the parent command for more than 800 active duty medical personnel who carry the additional status of being deployable with Fleet Hospital Bremerton. This 500-bed transportable medical and surgical unit is designed to be up and running within ten days of a call to service anywhere in the world.

What happens here when Fleet Hospital deploys?
This unique staffing requirement puts increased emphasis on the medical and personal readiness training for our assigned members, and on our one-on-one relationship with our Navy Reserve counterparts who train to step into the vacated positions if FHB were called to duty.
Where do they train?
The FHB training site, located on the hospital campus, can be used as a secondary treatment facility, as well as an augmentation site for disaster response as it was during the Nisqually earthquake February 28, 2001.
